What the SAG is
A matching grant from MDEC for services-sector companies kickstarting automation of their business operations — technology adoption, not business-as-usual IT spend.
Matching amount
Up to 50% of total approved project cost, subject to a ceiling of RM200,000, whichever is lower. The balance is funded by your company.
Sectors covered
Traditional or non-technology services businesses — retail, wholesale, F&B, tourism, logistics, transportation, education, healthcare, real estate, professional and financial services.
Expected project outcomes
Applications are assessed on outcomes: higher revenue, lower business cost, shorter process cycle time, fewer man hours, or a new source of growth.
Eligible expenses
Approved project costs critical to success — IT hardware and equipment, associated software, licence fees, process redesign, testing and certification, and project training.
What is not covered
Salaries, taxes, offshore outsourcing, maintenance, general-purpose computers, laptops, tablets, phones, furniture, travel, utilities, rental, audit and secretarial fees.
Project duration
Four months in total: up to one month to implement the digitalisation, then three months of post-monitoring against the agreed outcomes. Extensions are at MDEC's discretion.
Reimbursement, not upfront cash
Paid against milestone deliverables in two payments — 50% of the approved grant on Milestone One, 50% on the final milestone.

- Any prior MDEC or government grant completed successfully
