Business Central or Acumatica — how do we choose?

Accepted Answer

Business Central suits teams already standardised on Microsoft 365 who want tight Outlook, Excel and Power BI integration with per-user licensing. Acumatica suits businesses with many occasional users or heavy project, distribution and field workloads, because it is licensed by resource consumption rather than per named user. We implement both and will tell you when neither is the right fit.

Do you still support on-premise Dynamics NAV?

Yes. We maintain, extend and support existing NAV installations, and we upgrade them to Business Central when the business case is there. A NAV system that works does not need replacing on a vendor's timetable — we will tell you honestly whether an upgrade is worth funding this year.

What does the implementation itself cost?

Implementation is quoted per project, not per user, because the cost driver is scope: number of legal entities, data migration volume, integrations and how much of the process is being redesigned. We scope it in a fit-gap workshop and quote a fixed figure before any build starts — no open-ended day rates.

Can we start with one module and add more later?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it is often the cheaper path. A common sequence is finance and inventory first, then warehouse or CRM once users are comfortable. Licensing scales the same way, so you are not paying for modules nobody has been trained on yet.

How long does an ERP implementation take?

A focused finance and inventory rollout for a single entity typically runs three to four months from kick-off to go-live. Multi-entity, manufacturing or heavily integrated projects run longer. The variable is almost never the software — it is data quality and how quickly your team can sign off decisions in the fit-gap stage.

Can you migrate our data from the system we use now?

Yes. We have migrated from SQL Accounting, UBS, AutoCount, Excel workbooks, legacy NAV and in-house systems. Master data — customers, suppliers, items, chart of accounts and opening balances — is mapped, cleaned and loaded through a repeatable template so the same load can be rehearsed before it is run for real.

Who actually does the work — your team or a subcontractor?

What are your support hours?

Monday to Friday 9:00–18:00 and Saturday 9:00–13:00, Malaysia time. Critical production issues raised inside those hours are picked up by a consultant who knows your configuration, not a first-line queue.

Response targets are agreed per contract and depend on the severity level and the support plan you hold. We would rather write the target into your agreement than publish a number that does not match what you signed — ask us for the SLA that applies to your plan.

Existing clients submit through the client support page, by email or by phone during support hours. Include the company, the module and a screenshot of the error — it usually removes an entire round trip.

Is your training HRD Corp claimable?

Awansoft has been an HRD Corp registered training provider since 2019. Claimability depends on the specific programme, your employer registration and current HRD Corp rules, so we confirm eligibility for your session in writing before you commit to a date.

Is training on-site, online, or both?

Both. Role-based sessions run at your office or over Teams, and are delivered against your configured system rather than a generic demo tenant — users learn the screens they will actually work in.

What grants can help fund an ERP project?

Malaysian SMEs commonly look at digitalisation grant programmes administered through SME Corp and MDEC, plus HRD Corp levy for the training component. Programme names, ceilings and eligibility change from year to year, so we check the current rules with you rather than quoting a figure that has expired.
